Our Pastor

Rev. Jim Pearson is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. He is a graduate of Mainland Senior High School in Daytona Beach, Florida and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Central Florida in Orlando. His Master of Divinity degree was taken at the Divinity School, Duke University in Durham.

Though born and raised in Florida Pastor Jim considers himself a “naturalized” North Carolinian. He and his wife June, who is from West Virginia, have been married for thirty-seven years and have two adult children. One lives in Alaska and the other lives in California. Still no grandchildren.

Our pastor has been a follower of Jesus Christ for as long as he can remember and reckons an attraction to the ministry from a very early age. But the call came when he was in his mid-forties after five years as a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran A-4 Skyhawk pilot and more than twenty years in the transportation industry. He is glad to be back in a USMC neighborhood.

Pastor loves preaching and teaching and is especially keen on prayer, spiritual guidance, and early church history and development. He is an avid reader and a devoted follower of ACC Men's basketball, with the Blue Devils at the top of his favorites. He will pull for the Tarheels unless they are playing Duke.
